why do we want to be beautiful: the reasons behind?

Why do we want to be considered beautiful, what is beautiful? is it really the road to happiness?

I was asking myself that, why go through the trouble of looking like someone else? do not get me wrong i am not advocating that women should let go of themselves, but i am just seriously baffled on why we do this things?
Why do we want to look younger> when we are supposed to age anyway?
Why do we want to become so thin, when our bone structure will not allow it, its not like everyone of us can look like Italian models? why do we try so hard, what is the genetic code embedded in women that convinces them to try so hard?
Theory #1 We want to get noticed--- not just by men but fellow women- we want the world to see us? When we walk across the street we want people to see how gorgeous are clothes are, how wonderful our hair is, how brilliant looking are the shoes we are wearing, our lipstick. but why do we want to get noticed? for what point and purpose? Well once they notice us, we get compliments, ---then what? I mean its certainly is an ego boost for the whole day or even the week, but the things we sacrifice, our peace of mind is much too sacred to be contented with this reason.Frankly its good to be stared at once in a while, but it will get so annoying at the end of the day.

theory #2  we are searching for a partner

- We want that beautiful figure to get the attention of our crush, men we like. we go through all this hassle of dressing up to get noticed, women even alter their breasts. but if this is the sole reason why we want to be sexy, then it does not satisfy at all, In the end we do not get the  fairytale story that we have been hoping for even if we look like Eva Longoria, it never really gives the permanent joy that women have been hoping for. Sure, you can get the attention of the male for a few years with your stunning dress---but it never really gives you the inner satisfaction of being in love. For if it is the real reason why do we see super gorgeous women get divorced and get cheated on ( sandra bullock and scarlett johansen) why do we see countless of men change their wives? and women as well, why jennifer aniston never seem to have a trustworthy man in  her life and why angelina jolie is reported to be feuding with her husband brad pitt--all of the time? So we go through all this stages of depression because we dont look like a celebrity, ,only to realize that it never is the key to finding love...the one thing we really want. It never really is. the physical beauty does not and will not guarantee love. In the end  when i come to think about it , i would surely hate if my boyfriend just likes me for my eyes or my breasts or my waists. the one fact that would really suck the most is to realize that everything will change once my appearance changes. I cannot remain looking young no matter what I do. So why do we want to be beautiful. is there no quest for peace of mind? why don't we search for ways on how to become happy? really happy.  Without the need for affirmation from other people around us- why do we measure beauty according to what others say?if life is meant to be that way- then i would be glad to find a pill that removes me from all of this..
